Inspired by William Harvey's pioneering work on the circulation of blood, Palmer has recreated the human heart as a three-dimensional drawing on glass that appears to float in space. It uses a series of magnetic resonance images (MRIs) of a cannulated heart filled with formalin, a solution of formaldehyde, to retain its shape. The sculpture was created in collaboration with Professor Paul Iaizzo at the Visible Heart Laboratory at the University of Minnesota, USA.
