London artist Edward Leslie Badham (1873–1944) moved to Hastings in 1905 where he took to recording the streets of the Old Town through his pencil-and-ink drawings and paintings in oil and watercolour. Corner House and the Blue Saloon is an example of his fantastic watercolours.

In May and June 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hastings Museum & Art Gallery and artists Kate Hulme and Carissa Tanton introduced the community project 'Hastings Digital Quilt' (#HastingsDigitalQuilt), enlisting the help of 192 artists and creators to recreate Badham's painting in a variety of mediums.
