Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendel (1887–1959) was the only son of Lord Rendel and therefore could have easily lived the life of a country gentleman but he decided to study architecture as his profession. His career was interrupted by the two world wars, in which he served in the Grenadier Guards. He had a large practice, restoring and remodelling country houses but he was probably best known for his churches.
