Inscription description
on a metal plaque affixed to the front of the base: This sculpture, by Chris Dunseath, is / dedicated to the 18th century preacher / John Wesley. / His biblical teaching, much of which took place in / West Bromwich, Wednesbury and Tipton, resulted in the / founding of the Methodist movement. The cross held in a / hand symbolises his message being accepted by the people.
