After Degas' death, the foundry – Hebrard – made 22 casts of the sculpture from each of the 72 wax figures, which were numbered. The first 20 are lettered 'A–T'. Degas modelled another version of the sculpture (Rewald no. XXXIX), which was marked 'no. 60' in casting.
