On the left side of the archway is a standing angel/cherub. On the right is a double-headed, gargoyle-like creature and a second standing angel/cherub. Above head height spanning two sides of the archway. Mach described the work as ‘depicting the symbolic battle between good and evil’, and drew his symbolism from the innocent angels and monstrous gargoyles that traditionally ornament Gothic church architecture.
