David Morrison Reid Henry was born in Ceylon and educated in England. His father was George Henry who was an entomologist for the government of Ceylon and wrote and illustrated ‘A Guide to the Birds of Ceylon’. Whilst Reid-Henry was at Sandhurst, training for the army, he spent time in the studio of the renowned painter and falconer George Lodge (1860–1954). After the war Reid-Henry settled in Rhodesia. He illustrated many books, particularly on eagles, hawks and falcons.
