The fountain's central feature is a square sectioned pier, or pylon, surmounted by a disc with a segment cut out of it. It is surrounded, at its base, by a cluster of smaller glass features. The fountain is fed by acrylic plastic tubes leading to nineteen different outlet points, so that water floods over the entire surface. The sculptural part of the fountain is constructed from thick green, blue-green, and grey-green glass laminate. The surrounding pool is lined with slate. Mrs Edgar, who commissioned the fountain, was the wife of Gilbert H. Edgar CBE, a City of London Sheriff between 1963 and 1964.
