On 6th July 1912 George V and Queen Mary were rowed down the course at Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames in Queen Mary's shallop of 1689, the last historic royal barge then in use. The same occurred at Eton in 1913 and they last used the barge at the Thames Peace Pageant after the First World War in August 1919. It was then stored until it was given to the National Maritime Museum in 1953.
