A head and shoulders portrait of subject arms folded, holding a book and staring intently at the artist. Ensor was born 1769, he wrote several books and pamphlets on radical topics including 'Defence of the Irish and Anti-Union'. He died at the family seat Ardress House Co. Armagh in 1843
