Frances Walker’s work weaves along the edge of places, environmental and cultural. Human activity and impact on the landscape often reveals itself as a whispered footprint. When figures appear they are withdrawing; nature slowly recovering its wild origins. Flotsam and jetsam merge tonally with the natural landscape, an essence of human impact made beautiful and poetic. Walker’s closely toned palette with its silvery-grey character revels in the nature of light and materiality found in Scotland’s north east. The artist lives in Footdee, Aberdeen, and this painting was made from sketches made on the foreshore near her home.
