Florence Eleanor Booth was a Salvation Army officer and daughter-in-law of Salvation Army founders, William and Catherine Booth. She was one of a small group of women who pioneered Salvation Army work in France in 1880 but is best known as the first leader of the organisation's Women's Social Work. She served in this capacity from 1884 to 1912. On William Booth's death in 1912, her husband, Bramwell, became General of The Salvation Army and Florence supported him in this appointment. She also served as British Commissioner from 1919 until her retirement in 1930 following her husband's death.
