Close-up of a sailing boat at sea in a storm, the prow and dark red sail of the boat are silhouetted against the white foamy sea and sky. Four sailors are working to prevent the boat from capsizing, the man on the far right (wearing a hat) is pulling vigorously at the rope, and the second man from the right (with a long ponytail) is assisting in this task. The third man from the right stands next to an ore or collapsed mast. The fourth man (nearest the prow) wearnig a flat cap with a red pompom, is captured looking upwards tending to the sail itself which appears to be ripped and is ragged around the edges, presumably having been distressed by the high winds. The off-white background appears to have experienced some discolouration over time as it is yellowing, the sea itself is coloured in a distinctly grey-blue colour.
