Underwater, a skeleton wearing a sailor's hat inscribed ‘Deutsche Marine’ drowns and strangles a nurse wearing a Red Cross armband. Apparently represents the torpedo attack on the hospital ship HMS ‘Glenart Castle’ off Lundy Island by German submarine UC-56 on 26th February 1918. The ship was sunk with the loss of around 150 lives.
