Beattie Brown sets the warm hazy colours of this work against the cool blue of the sea to evoke a still summer sunset. The rowing boats resting on the beach and the distant village create a sense of peace.

Findhorn is a historic fishing village where today you can enjoy food, art, history, nature, or a quiet walk on the beach. It has inspired artists for decades.

Beattie Brown was born in 1851 near Edinburgh. He was just seventeen years old when he exhibited his first work at the Royal Scottish Academy and he continued to exhibit annually throughout his life.
