Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn was President of St Thomas's Hospital from 1882–1932.This portrait of the Duke of Connaught wearing the Order of the Garter over the uniform of a field marshal is a copy after the painting by Arthur Cope at the Museum of Freemasonry, commissioned by the United Grand Lodge of England 1922. This copy was commissioned by St Thomas's Hospital in 1931 to hang in the hospital.
