The sculpture of a cycling Captain Cook bursting out of the side of the museum has been cleverly created using discarded bike parts. With a torso created of cogs and bike chain, this sculpture perfectly embraces the Captain Cook theme of the third and final stage of the Tour de Yorkshire, 2016. Keith Peacock the artist has seen this as an opportunity to create a piece of public art in tribute to Middlesbrough's greatest son as a great honour. Peacock states, 'it really made me think about Captain Cook, the man and the machine, and how the sculpture combines the two so well'.
