This picture was painted in Mawdlam one of the artists favourite locations, near to what is now Kenfig Nature Reserve, an area designated as one of outstanding natural beauty. The buildings are still in existence, although considerably modernised. The mountainside in the distance to the left of the picture, Margam Mountain, appears in several of the artist’s paintings, particularly those of his family such as ‘The Red Dress’.
