The detail is now indeterminate. The cloak falls the full length of the torso and merges into the robes. The left arm is lowered and the left-hand rests in the centre of the lap, with a small lip behind it. The fingers between the main knuckle joints are visible. The skill of the mason is evident with the left arm freely formed and the area beneath neatly dressed. The right arm is raised but appears to be held high across the body as though to hold an attribute across the chest. The projecting arm was supported by ‘robes’ beneath it which forms a deep hollow underneath. In the centre of the chest is a 40mm deep squared socket as though to take a metal fitting that would be held behind the left hand and below the right hand, probably a book. There is no discernible evidence of metal staining. That this fitting may have been made of metal is also evidenced by the number of axe blows around the right shoulder made perhaps in an effort to extract the object the statue was holding. There is further evidence of axe blows around the neck from the destruction of the head. There seems little doubt that this damage would have been caused at the time of the Dissolution of Gisborough in 1535. The knees are apart, the left knee slightly raised with the left foot drawn back, whilst the right foot projects over the front of the chamfered base. Both feet are visible, the toes project from beneath the robes, although there is now no detail on either foot. Drapes of robe are gathered between the knees, less voluminous than the other examples and pulled from the left knee. The statue is made of the same local coarse-grained yellow Jurassic deltaic sandstone as Gisborough Priory and is weatherworn. There are some small areas of dark grey plaster-like substance on the sculpture, most evident on the left leg. This may be traces of original paint ground.
