One of the very few pictures surviving from Barry’s periods living in Cornwall and featuring Cornish subject matter. The location of the engine house depicted is unknown. This painting has been recently cleaned for an exhibition. A previously darkened sky is now revealed as being much more suffused with morning light and in addition, the planet Venus is just discernible on the top left of the piece.
