Railings formed of arched, open-work panels on either side of the path leading up to the Pierhead building – one side terminating with a rectangular panel with an inscription cut into it. The railings contain cut-out images designed by local children to evoke the contents of the shop windows of the former Emporium – tea kettles, hats, gloves, shoes etc. Above, and linking the two sides, is a clock to replace the 'Emporium Clock'.
