Emma Jerman was born in 1965. She studied MSc Toxicology at the University of Surrey and graduated with distinction in 1990. This portrait was donated to the University following her death in 2004. Freda Anderson studied art with one of the leading South African artists, Cecily Sash, but decided to make her career in nursing. While working part-time as a clinical midwifery teacher, she became a skilled silversmith, sculptress, watercolour artist and portrait painter. She retired from nursing in 1992. Today she paints in all media, and is one of the most versatile artists in the country, and is a sought after teacher and demonstrator. She is a regular exhibitor at the Mall Gallery with the RI, RBA and RP and regularly undertakes commissions for them.
