An 'effigy of an abbot wearing a mitre and holding a crozier. Identified as Abbot William of St Vigor (d.1223) who was also Bishop of Bath and Wells. The figure is dressed in a bishop’s mitre and stole. The effigy was recovered from the north side of the abbey c.1780; it was placed inside the abbot’s kitchen, where it was displayed upright on the north wall. It was moved to the Abbey Museum in 1996'. (Roberta Gilchrist and Cheryl Green, 'Glastonbury Abbey: Archaeological Investigations 1904–79', Society of Antiquaries of London, 2015)
