This painting is a full-length portrait of Edward Wadham. It was presented by Mrs Wadham on 28th January 1921 in rememberence of the two occasions on which she had been Mayoress, 1878–1881 and 1919–1920. As well as serving as Mayor, Edward Wadham was the Duke of Buccleuch's agent in Barrow and a Conservative Councillor. He was also a director of the Barrow Steam Corn Mill.
