Portrait of Edward Rigby, Surgeon. Elected Assistant Surgeon in 1772 at age 24, he served the Hospital for the next 50 years. He published 'Uterine Haemorrhage' in 1776. He was Mayor of Norwich in 1805, the same year he introduced the vaccination for smallpox in Norwich. He was related to the Martineau family through his mother.
