11 February 1807: Richard Colt Hoare at Stourhead to William Cunnington- has been ill again with gout and rheumatism. Will give Crocker 'leave of ab-sence' so that he may finish the drawings before WmC goes away. Hopes that on his return from London that they can explore the tumuli on Lake Down then 'the Monster of Marden for I am resolved to see the bottom of it so may enquire who is the keeper of it - that I may get leave to unchain him'.
