The photograph depicts sleeping figures in a public park in the artist’s hometown of Tangiers. They are awaiting their illegal and perilous passage across the Strait of Gibraltar to Europe, where the hope is that they will find work and a better quality of life. Their illegal status is the result of legislation that has created barriers to migration from Africa to Europe.
