Design for a sculpture of Bacchus as a male nude wearing a cloak and holding a bunch of grapes.

This sketch is made on the back of an invoice to Nollekens from his chief carver George Gahagan which reads 'Joseph Nollekens esq. RA. to G. Gahagan. 1st December 1803 to cutting on a bust of the Duke of Bedford, 41 letters – 0"2"0. 2 January 1804 to cutting on 4 heads 121 letters 0"6"0. 0"8"0. Received of Joseph Nollekens esq. the contents George Gahagan'.

The letter is pasted onto a sheet with an admission ticket for the Royal Academy, which reads 'Monday 15 day of Jan 1810. Admit to the lecture this evening M Drummond. J Nollekens RA. The lecture will begin at 8 o'clock.'
