In 1919–1921 bronze editions of 73 figures found in Degas's studio were produced by the Hébrard foundry. Originally modelled around 1890, this figure reflects direct observation and a knowledge of classical and renaissance sculpture. Gwendoline Davies purchased this cast in 1923.
