July 1807 : Richard Colt Hoare at Sarum to William Cunnington - is glad to hear he is better health. Has no objection to WmC 'opening with Mr Lambert the large barrow and two smaller ones at Amesbury as provided you keep an exact account (as usual) of your operations and that Crocker is allowed to make drawings of what is found …. Should you wish to open them I would recommend you seeing Mr Lambert by Sunday morning & propose sending off you men very early on Monday morning to begin …. You may also open Mr Biggs's barrows with him - But before you begin on either of them I would advise you to under-stand each other thoroughly, as to expense Mr Lambert will be here on Sunday evening. - It will be absolutely necessary to have the two spears & urn to be introduced on the same plate'.
