The only interior scene in East Renfrewshire Council’s collection shows men at work in a curling stone workshop, believed to be Thomas Thorburn’s premises in Beith. This painting has been identified as a rare contemporary depiction of this type of work, and as such, is thought to be of some importance to the history of curling in Scotland.
