Standing tall on its pedestal of Lazonby stone, this sculpture of a cormorant proudly spreads its wings in majestic stance. Impressive in height, yet also inviting in its open posture, it is a fitting memorial to commemorate 25 years of the RSPB group in Carlisle while also suggesting an optimism for its future as it stares ahead.

A small ceremony ran alongside its unveiling, attended by the Mayoress of Carlisle, and the sculpture is now owned by the Environmental Department of Carlisle City Council.
