The bronze statue depicts a seated Constantine wearing military dress. His right arm is outstretched behind him and his left holds the pommel of a sword, the tip of which is broken. The sword was stolen in 2016 by a homeless man and replaced three months later by York Civic Trust. An adjacent plaque gives biographical details including information about his conversion to Christianity. The statue is mounted on a rectangular limestone plinth.
