With the help of its title, it is possible to just make out the subject of this painting. The artist tried to show modern life of the early 1900s by reducing images to basic elements. He rejected past styles of painting saying, ' ... My object is the construction of pure form. I hate the colours of the East, the Modern Medievalist, and the Fat Man of the Renaissance.' He is often linked to the British Vorticist art movement, although he was never formally a member.
