Born in London, Hamilton Fraser studied painting at St Martin's School of Art from 1949 to 1952. He continued his studies in Paris, where contact with the work of Henri Matisse, Georges Braque and Nicolas de Staël influenced the development of his painting style. Hamilton Fraser is best known for depicting landscapes and seascapes. Although this painting has an abstract title, it shares several key features with the artists’ seascape works.
