Goodall's earlier works were mainly abstracts with a figurative element, but in recent years he has focussed more on painting boldly coloured and dramatic landscapes. This work captures the dramatic contrast between the Ochil Hills and the flat carseland below. The viewpoint is perhaps from south of Dollar, with the meandering River Devon in the centre, looking west towards Dumyat and the Trossachs in the distance.
