This sketch-like work shows Bomberg's lifelong interest in form. In his early career he claimed to be interested only in pure form but later developed a style which combines a fascination for mechanics and structure with a free use of the paint. Paint is applied in an extremely dynamic manner, combining outlines and colour and creating a simple and abstract pattern.
