Yehudi Menuhin (1916–1999) playing the violin and wearing a concert dress. In the lower-left is an ink drawing of a kangaroo with a small human joey in his pouch, and koala, clapping. Menuhin is depicted with a large head and exaggerated eyes, nose and violin, looking at the viewer and smiling.

Inscription description

Inscribed by the artist under the violin bow in ink 'Yehudi Menuhin 1962 Sydney', and signed lower right in charcoal 'Tony Rafty 62'. Inscribed again in black ink to the rear of Menuhin's left shoulder 'To the Maestro, a long-time friend and still one to always remain, very best Tony Rafty, 30/10/98'.
