Oliver was a provincial landscape painter, who exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1909 and 1920. Initially he worked in Nottingham, later moving to Capel Curig in Wales. Capel Curig is a small village in Caernarfonshire. It is named after Curig, a saint and Bishop of Llanbadarn.
