This painting shows a meeting of the Bury Hunt sometime in the 1830s when Edmund Grundy was Master of the Hunt. Thirteen mounted riders, three smartly dressed attendants and the pack of hounds are waiting for the 'set off'. The scene is set near Bury because Grant’s Tower (now collapsed) can be seen in the background and the huntsmen are local Bury people too. We know this because the painting was issued as an engraving, which was provided with a key.
