Burnet Percy Pavitt was born in 1908 and served in the Army Intelligence Corps in the Second World War. On 24 July 1943, by then a Major, he was appointed Consul for the Mohafazats of the Euphrates and the Jezireh, to reside at Deir-es-Zor. From 1991 he was a Director of the English Music Theatre Company.
