Wherever the widely dispersed Buckley 'mugs' reside, they are invariably overcome with nostalgia on the first Tuesday of July, each year. Here in Buckley we celebrate our annual 'Jubilee'. Every place of worship connected with the town gathers on the 'mountain' alongside the 'Congs' chapel (now URC) and, headed by their own banner, lines up for a perambulation of the main streets. Commencing with a service of Christian worship, delivered in rota by the clergy of the town, then led by Buckley Royal Band, they walk along Mill Lane to the strains of 'Onward Christian Soldiers' and other well loved hymns. In the rear are a cavalcade of decorated lorries loaded with young children and infirm pensioners. Finally, each of the churches proceed to their respective Sunday schools and indulges in a feast of goodies.
