Exhibited as part of the WAD Spring Exhibition of 1893. The top half of each door consists of two narrative bas-relief panels, one above the other, flanked by pilasters with niches into which statuettes are set. The niche figures are the heroes from the panels. When the doors are closed, the top rails form a continuous frieze. The bas-reliefs relate to the name 'Adelphi' (Greek for 'brothers'), and represent 'incidents of brotherhood from great historical periods.' They are: Jonathan's stratagem to aid the escape of David; the Dioscuri (as clouds) guarding and guiding the Argonauts; Achilles mourning Patroclus; and Orlando (Roland) rescuing Oliver.
