The eighteenth century statue of Britannia was placed on the medieval bridge over the River Frome in front of Iford Manor House, by architect and garden designer Harold Peto, who lived at Iford Manor from 1899 to his death in 1933. The bridge itself is c.1400 but has been substantially restored.
