Spherical sculpture of a bivouac - an ants' nest formed by the bodies of many live worker ants. There are over 1000 worker ants (attached to one another by the wire legs), each made from porcelain, glass beads and silver and copper wire. The queen ant (a black oblong that is much larger than the other ants) and attendant workers (which are the same as the workers) can just be seen in the centre. On the outside there are also several guard ants, which are larger and have pincers.
