Biblical scene, study for the Ascension of the Virgin Mary. The ascending Virgin Mary is supported either side by two flying angels, both of which look heavenwards. Beneath the group are three putti, one of whom holds a feather, and the drapery of the Virgin Mary (the latter drawn as a separate figure before her ascended position). Drawn in pen and ink with hatching and cross hatching. Graphite is used for additional tone. In the lower right quarter is a pencil sketch of a Madonna and two children. Paper is stained on lower and upper margins. Central horizontal crease
