'[W]alking along a path into the forest – tall Norway spruce, grey skies and bright white underfoot. My eyes struggle with the dazzling snow. A little further and tracks... BEAR! We tracked him backward – to follow in his direction could lead to an encounter we did not want to push for right now. He ambled in, out and around the tree line. For a moment out into the open, 100 yards before crossing our path to continue winding through the forest.
