After an example in the Capitoline Museum, Rome (a second-century copy of a Hellenistic original), a copy of which was made in the early nineteenth century by Bertel Thorvaldsen. In the nineteenth century, the original was regarded as Ariadne, and this parianware piece was exhibited as such around the time of production at the Lichfield Museum.
