This is one of two John Goudie paintings in the Maggie's art collection.
The artist is only known to have exhibited four paintings, at The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts between 1911 and 1917, including this one. McEwan's 'Dictionary of Scottish Art' lists Goudie as a 'Renfrewshire landscape painter'. Little else is known about the artist and it is possible that he did not survive the First World War.
