A richly-dressed man wearing a winged helmet stands on the left in front of his throne. He is looking to the right at a kneeling man in plain clothes and a polar bear. His left hand rests on bear\'s head and the kneeling\'s man\'s arm on the bear\'s back. More men armed with spears stand behind the kneeling man and the bear. All of them have longish hair and long, drooping moustaches. The man standing next to the throne carries a goblet on a tray. Tenniel\'s initials are in the lower left corner, the engraver\'s in the lower right.
